Pendragon PLC, one of Nottinghamshire's top retailers, is celebrating as one of their apprentices makes the final for The Young Apprentice of the Year award.
Part of the Mansfield & Ashfield 2020 Business Awards 2017, the awards are hosted by the Mansfield 2020 business development group, designed to acknowledge and reward the achievement of local businesses that have shown entrepreneurial and enterprising fortitude, whilst recognising their contribution to the economic development of the Nottinghamshire area.
Currently studying an NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration, Conor Redfern joined Pendragon PLC as Business Administration Apprentice in March 2016, supporting the Learning and Development team at the Pendragon Learning Academy based in Mansfield. Conor's daily responsibilities include manging reception, keeping training records maintained and delivering a high quality of customer service to all internal and external clients who visit the Academy.
Having received numerous nominations for internal recognition awards during his time with the business, Conor has grown to be an asset to the team. Following nomination to the 2020 Business Awards, he was named as a finalist in his category following a nomination and interview process.
The winners will be announced at the end of April at the annual Mansfield 2020 Awards and Ball, held at the John Fretwell Centre in Mansfield.
Avril Rawson, Learning and Development Coordinator at Pendragon PLC and Conor's mentor, comments:
"From day one, Conor has quietly gone about making our team member experience a fabulous one. Constantly stepping up and willing to assist in any way that he can, he is an unsung hero and I look forward to continuing to work alongside him."
Caroline Cox, Operations Director for the 2020 Awards, comments:
"We've been overwhelmed with the amount of interest and participation from local businesses this year. Our judging panel found the process very difficult as the calibre was so high, so it is a great achievement for Conor to have made it to the 2017 shortlist. He should be very proud to have made it this far and I wish all of our finalists the best of luck in the final."
Update 2nd May 2017
We are celebrating as Conor is named runner up in the Mansfield & Ashfield 2020 Apprentice of the Year Award!
Narrowly missing out on the top spot, Conor took home the great achievement of runner up in the awards.
Avril Rawson, comments:
"I am really proud of Conor, he has contributed so much time and effort in supporting Pendragon's community work with local schools and also supports our apprentice induction programme - this Award is very much deserved."
"I had a great evening at the Mansfield 2020 Business Awards, it was a fabulous event. I am both astonished and proud to be recognised for something I just do on an everyday basis; it is good to know that I can make a difference in some small way. Whilst I'm disappointed not to win overall, the competition was pretty tough with some fantastic candidates and I am very happy to be part of that outstanding line up."
